Le Ponant

Just a little note regarding the header image. The rather large vessel featured is, as the title suggests, called Le Ponant. The ship, carrying over 60 elderly American tourists around Seychelles in February and having left the sunny isles for the Mediterranean, via the Suez, ran into some trouble with the renowned Somali pirates. It was hijacked- no tourists were present onboard- but took the crew hostage 3 weeks after this photo was taken. It was the same crew that we had all met on the Island. Apparently the pirates usually just ask for ransom but i never have found out what happened afterwards...
